Working Together
FAQ 6. Why does professional creative work cost what it does?
Because good design involves a lot more than making something look attractive.
Whether it's a logo, brochure, presentation, advertising campaign, or website, there's thought and planning behind the finished product. Understanding your business, your audience, your message, and what you're trying to accomplish is just as important as the design itself.
Some projects are fairly straightforward. Others involve research, creative concepts, copywriting, custom graphics, production, technical requirements, and coordination with outside vendors. The time and expertise involved can vary considerably.
And experience matters. Knowing what works, what doesn't, and how to avoid costly mistakes is part of what you're paying for.
My goal isn't to make a project more complicated or expensive than it needs to be. It's to deliver professional creative work that represents your business well, communicates clearly, and helps you compete more effectively.
FAQ 7. How does payment work?
For most projects, I require a deposit before work begins, with the remaining balance due according to the schedule outlined in your proposal or invoice.
Larger projects may be divided into milestones, while smaller assignments may simply be invoiced upon completion.
I accept several payment methods, including credit cards. Any applicable processing fees will be disclosed in advance.
You'll know the payment terms before we get started. No surprises.
FAQ 8. Can you help write or improve my marketing content?
Yes, and it's often one of the most valuable parts of a creative project.
Many businesses know their work extremely well but struggle to explain it clearly to prospective customers. That's understandable. You're busy doing the work, not necessarily writing about it.
I can help organize your message, improve existing copy, write new content, and make sure your marketing materials speak to the people you're trying to reach.
Good design gets attention. Good content helps people understand why they should choose you.
The two need to work together.
FAQ 9. What is a creative brief, and why do I need one?
A creative brief is simply a way to get us on the same page before work begins.
It helps me understand your business, your audience, your goals, your preferences, and what you want the finished project to accomplish.
You don't need to know design terminology or have everything figured out. That's part of what I'm here to help with.
A little planning at the beginning can save considerable time, money, and frustration later. And it usually leads to a much better result.
FAQ 10. Can you provide references?
Absolutely. I'm happy to provide references from clients who can speak to the quality of my work, how I communicate, and what it's like to work with me.
You can also explore examples of my work in the portfolio and read testimonials from clients I've worked with over the years.
I believe the experience of working together matters just as much as the finished design.
Websites and Digital Marketing
FAQ 11. Can you redesign my existing WordPress website?
Yes. In fact, improving existing websites is a significant part of what I do.
Sometimes a website needs a complete redesign. Other times, the underlying site is fine, but the design, content, navigation, or functionality needs attention.
I work extensively with WordPress and Divi, and I can evaluate your existing website to determine whether it's better to improve what you have or start with a fresh design.
I'll also look at practical considerations such as your current hosting, plugins, content, and anything that might complicate the transition.
The goal isn't to rebuild everything unnecessarily. It's to get you a better website in the most sensible way.
FAQ 12. Will my website work on phones, tablets, and desktop computers?
Absolutely. Today, a website needs to work well on screens of all sizes.
I build responsive websites, meaning the layout adjusts to different screen sizes rather than forcing visitors to zoom, scroll sideways, or struggle with tiny text and buttons.
But responsive design involves more than simply shrinking a desktop website. I pay attention to how content is arranged, how navigation works, and how visitors interact with the site on phones and tablets.
The goal is a professional, easy-to-use experience regardless of the device someone is using.
FAQ 13. Will my website appear in Google and AI searches like ChatGPT?
That's certainly one of the goals, and I build websites with search visibility in mind.
Traditional search engine optimization (SEO) helps search engines like Google understand your website, your services, and the people you're trying to reach.
Today, it's also important to consider how AI-powered search tools, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity, find and interpret information about businesses.
I can help structure your website with clear content, descriptive headings, appropriate technical foundations, and information that explains who you are, what you do, and whom you serve.
No reputable designer or SEO provider can guarantee that your business will appear in a particular search result or AI-generated answer. But we can give your website a stronger foundation for being understood and discovered.
And that's considerably better than simply putting a website online and hoping people find it.
FAQ 14. I'm ready to get started on a website. What do you need from me?
First, we'll have a conversation about your business, your goals, and what you want your website to accomplish. You don't need to have everything figured out before contacting me.
Once we've agreed on the project, I'll help you work through what we need, which may include:
-
Your content: Existing website text, company information, service descriptions, photographs, and other materials. If your content needs work, I can help with that, too.
-
Your branding: Your logo, brand colors, fonts, and any existing brand guidelines. Vector logo files such as AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF are especially helpful.
-
Examples: Websites you like or dislike, along with anything that helps me understand your preferences.
-
Domain and hosting information: If you already have a domain or hosting account, we'll review what you have before deciding whether anything needs to change.
-
Access to existing systems: If needed, we'll arrange secure access to your website, hosting, or other services. There's no need to email passwords back and forth.
I'll help organize the pages, navigation, and overall structure based on what your visitors need—not just what looks attractive.
And if you're starting from scratch, that's fine. I'll guide you through the process. You don't need to become a website expert to get a professional website.
FAQ 15. What happens after my website launches?
Launching a website isn't quite the same as finishing it forever.
Like any piece of software, websites need occasional updates, maintenance, backups, and attention to security. Content may also need to change as your business grows.
I can help with ongoing website updates, improvements, troubleshooting, and maintenance arrangements, depending on your needs.
Some clients prefer to manage their own content. Others would rather hand that responsibility off and concentrate on running their businesses.
We'll discuss those options before launch so you know what happens next and who is responsible for what.
Ownership, Technology, and Creative Practices
FAQ 16. Who owns my website and design files when the project is finished?
I believe clients should have clear ownership and access to the work they've paid for.
For website projects, that generally means your business controls its domain name, website content, and hosting account. I don't believe in holding a client's website hostage.
Ownership of custom design work, source files, and other deliverables will be explained in the project agreement.
Some elements, such as stock photography, fonts, plugins, themes, or third-party software, may have separate licensing requirements. Those licenses don't necessarily transfer ownership of the underlying assets or software.
My goal is to make those distinctions clear from the beginning, so you know exactly what you're receiving.
FAQ 17. Do you use artificial intelligence in your creative work?
Yes, when it makes sense.
Artificial intelligence has become another useful tool in the creative process. I may use it to help explore ideas, develop concepts, refine writing, generate supporting imagery, or speed up certain technical tasks.
But AI doesn't replace experience, creative judgment, or understanding a client's business.
I still make the decisions about messaging, design, quality, and what actually belongs in the finished project. And I review the work rather than simply accepting whatever an AI tool produces.
I also consider issues such as accuracy, originality, licensing, and whether a particular use of AI is appropriate for the project.
The goal isn't to use AI because it's fashionable. It's to use the best tools available to produce better work, more efficiently, without sacrificing quality.
FAQ 18. Is all the work in your portfolio your own?
The projects in my portfolio represent creative work I've directed, designed, developed, or contributed to in a meaningful way.
Depending on the project, that work may include client-provided photography, licensed stock images, AI-assisted imagery, outside production specialists, or other resources.
That's normal in professional creative work. What matters is how those elements come together to communicate the right message and produce an effective finished result.
I don't claim to have personally photographed every image, written every line of code, or created every individual asset from scratch. But I do take responsibility for the creative work I deliver.
If you're curious about how a particular project was created or what my role was, just ask. I'm happy to explain.
About Misenheimer Creative
FAQ 19. What's your professional background?
I've spent more than 25 years working in graphic design, branding, marketing, website development, and creative direction.
My experience includes working with businesses, professional service firms, technology companies, nonprofits, and ministries. Over the years, I've handled everything from individual design assignments to complete branding and website projects.
I graduated cum laude from UNC Charlotte and have continued learning as design, technology, and marketing have evolved.
That experience helps me look beyond how something appears and consider how well it communicates, how people will use it, and whether it accomplishes what the client actually needs.
You can learn more about my background on the About page, or just ask. I'm always happy to talk shop.
FAQ 20. Do you offer pro bono or discounted services?
I occasionally take on pro bono or reduced-fee projects, particularly for ministries, nonprofits, and causes that are meaningful to me.
Like any small business, I have to balance those opportunities with paying client work, so I can't accommodate every request.
But if you have a worthwhile project and a limited budget, you're welcome to reach out. I'll be straightforward about whether I can help, and if I can't, I may be able to suggest another approach.
FAQ 21. What if I have a question that isn't answered here?
Just ask!
Every business and every project is different, and there's no way to cover everything in a list of frequently asked questions.
Whether you have a specific project in mind, need some advice, or simply want to find out whether I'm the right person for the job, I'd be happy to talk.
There's no obligation, and you won't get a high-pressure sales pitch. Just a straightforward conversation about what you need and how I might be able to help.
FAQ 22. Why do you talk about Jesus and your Christian faith on a business website?
Because my faith in Jesus Christ is the most important part of my life, and it wouldn't feel right to pretend otherwise.
I'm a Christian, but that doesn't mean I consider myself better than anyone else. Quite the opposite. I'm a sinner saved entirely by God's grace, not by anything good I've managed to accomplish.
My faith shapes how I try to live, how I treat people, and how I approach my design work. I don't always get those things right, but they matter deeply to me.
You don't have to share my beliefs to work with me. I've worked with people from many different backgrounds, and I value those relationships. I'm here to provide excellent creative work, not to make anyone uncomfortable or turn a business meeting into a sermon.
But if you ever want to talk about faith, I'm happy to have that conversation, too.
Ultimately, I want to do good work, treat people fairly, and conduct my business in a way that honors Christ.
